For Emma, Forever Ago by Bon Iver

Listening to For Emma, Forever Ago you’d never guess Justin Vernon, the man behind Bon Iver recorded it entirely by himself in a cabin in northern Wisconsin with limited recording equipment. The resulting sound is simple, yet subtly complex.  The sounds and textures Vernon creates to compliment his twangy guitar are angelic, not mention his beautiful falsetto vocals.   Lyrically he seems to be working through the issues that brought him to isolate himself in the first place.  Together the music and song writing have the feeling of a cold winter night standing before a fire; your front half is filled with warmth, while your back half is frigidly cold.
